This is a great game to make kids get together and learn who is who. All you need is whisper each kids an animal and ensure that you give the same animal to two children. On count of three children have to start acting like the animals they are and find the matching pair another kid with the same animal. Thats basically it. But, of course, you can come up with some small prizes for the first pair to match, for the funniest parody, for the best parody, etc. For small parties you can blindfold everyone and make kids create sounds of animals they are to find their pairs.
While putting candy and such in one used to be a sure fire way to make a kids' day, most parents now basically frown on too much candy. So, leaving out candy means we have to be more creative. And that's where having resources for all kinds of neat toys and handy items comes into play.
Children are capable of learning best when they don't think they're learning at all. That is, the perfect chance to teach them is when they are playing. It is this concept that has propelled educational toys's popularity (Like Leapster) to the highest point. Despite the fact that they can be quite expensive, parents are paying no attention to the price, recognizing only the benefits their children will gain playing with the educational toy's, and seeing that it far outweigh's the price tag.
The second thing to remember is that you have to understand the power of the culture that kids go into. It's a very powerful culture that exerts a lot of pressure to "fit in." They may feel guilty if they lie to their parents. But, again, they're thinking, "This isn't that hurtful, and my parents just don't understand." Of course, parents do understand. They're frightened, and they should be.
