Experts tell us that we are constantly talking to ourselves, using between 150 and 300 words a minute to be exact. We plan what needs to be done next or we review things that just happened. Most of this self-talk is harmless yet some of it is detrimental to our self-worth. "That was so stupid of me." or "I will never be popular... thin, smart, pretty, etc." You know what I am talking about. We battle with this every day.
Recent research has linked lowered test scores among 15-year olds with the growing trend of text messaging. Kids are going to school too tired to learn because of the temptation of late-night texting. It seems to have become the latest teenage obsession, ranking at the top of the list with video games. Im sure you will agree that we should at least know who they are talking to.
* Other camp fun. While horses are the main attraction, these camps often offer much more than just riding and cleaning out stalls. Other activities often include sports, swimming, arts and crafts, hiking and more. There's no reason to think the entire trip will be spent on the back of a horse or in the barns. Yes, this will be a big part of it, but that's not all, especially at overnight camps where a whole host of fun programs tend to take place after the sun goes down.
