All right, say you are a guy that doesn't mind having kids and you actually welcome it. Remember, there are going to be potential landmines with the dad who's no longer in the picture. Also, the children might not exactly be excited that you've entered mom's life and even openly hostile to the idea.
If your child struggles a little with science subjects in school then it is always a good idea to see if you can help them outside the classroom. A lot of children find aspects of science as difficult as some aspects of mathematics - I was unfortunately one of these children. If you can somehow light the spark inside them and grab their attention you will be able to change their mind on the subject of science.
Try getting a gift that will encourage kids to learn. Obviously, giving your child a textbook or a pad of notebook paper would be a real downer, but some gifts are loads of enjoyment and aid in learning as well. A book is perfect for encouraging your child in reading. Some computer games may also have an educational advantage. Giving them a piggy bank, a purse, or a wallet can lead to understanding money and budgeting. A craft, kits, and even a model, are great ways to learn. Give a telescope and teach your child about astronomy and science. Give fish, an ant farm, or another pet, and let them learn more about the animal kingdom. Give a musical instrument, provide lessons and help them develop their musical talent. Educational gifts don't have to be boring. There are endless options for giving great gifts that help kids learn at the same time.
