My kids do like green stuff and are adding to their repertoire daily of healthy foods they eat without fussing. Weve ignored ones that are commonly difficult for children like chili, olives and onions and to our delight the kids are handling more spicy, demanding onions on their wraps and sandwiches and one child (who strangely takes after her mother) has to have an olive limit to prevent her eating the whole jar.
Back to my friends. I dont give unsolicited advice, so I didnt say anything. But if they had asked, I would have advised them to take the following steps:
Visual-Motor Coordination. Visual-motor coordination is the ability to match motor output with visual input. Although it is the nonvisual or kinesthetic feedback that is crucial for handwriting, visual feedback is also important. Visual feedback provides gross monitoring of writing rather than the fine-tuned monitoring provided by nonvisual feedback. It is this gross monitoring that prevents us from writing on the desk, crossing over lines (Levine, 1987) and staying within the margins.
