Getting your gifted child involved in activities that keep his interest can be a challenge, and sometimes requires some volunteer hours on your part as the parent. But sometimes these groups are the only thing that will keep him engaged in public school. It is well worth the effort to find that spark of interest that makes your child happy and finds him lifelong friends in the process. It can be challenging to come up with ideas for entertaining the kids when the weather is cold, miserable and wet. In a way this limits your possibilities, considering you cannot spend a lot of time outdoors, however, do not fret as there is plenty that can be done indoors too.
Blocking apps on your kid's Android device can help you filter what are being uploaded or played in their devices. You have complete authority on what is allowable and not. By doing this, you are making sure that your child only uses apps approved by you or uses them only during those times that you allowed them to.
A more physical activity, also good for indoor family fun, is a simple game of Charades. Charades can be made into a humorous activity when the subject is centered on funny family moments like when the dog ate Mom's meatloaf or when the washing machine turned all of the laundry pink. Simply write down these moments of humor on little folded notes and place them in a bowl. Each family member picks a note from the bowl and must act out the subject accordingly. This provides the family an opportunity to learn that even stressful moments can be funny.
