Most of us just aren't very efficient when it comes to everyday chores. That's too bad because this is an area that affects us all our lives; it just makes sense to get smart about these tasks.
When my son was in middle school, for some reason he went through a period where he said, Oh, sure, to everything in a sarcastic way. I responded to him once or twice by saying, Is something wrong? Why are you using that tone with me? And he said, What tone? I don't know what you mean. I said, I just don't like the way you're talking to me; try to talk better. His answer? Oh, sure. I became a little frustrated, but I also knew better than to show it. I didn't want to empower that behavioror necessarily stifle it. Instead, my wife and I allied ourselves together and were able to laugh it off; eventually, it wore itself out.
A more physical activity, also good for indoor family fun, is a simple game of Charades. Charades can be made into a humorous activity when the subject is centered on funny family moments like when the dog ate Mom's meatloaf or when the washing machine turned all of the laundry pink. Simply write down these moments of humor on little folded notes and place them in a bowl. Each family member picks a note from the bowl and must act out the subject accordingly. This provides the family an opportunity to learn that even stressful moments can be funny.
